I Like the Way You Veuve

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Summer! And what better way to kick-off the season than the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic.

It’s the perfect mix of Young Professional Excellence and Family Reunion. Beautiful people are dressed to the 9’s, and will still drop it low in the name of the “99s and the 2000s”. It’s basically my personality in a nutshell.

The event is held annually in New York, Los Angeles, and Cape Town. There’s also a smaller scale event in Miami, which I’ve attended in previous years.

It’s easy to be overwhelmed if you’ve never been or are planning to attend your first event. So here are my top tips for navigating VC Polo Classic with ease.

Secure the Ticket

VCPC tix are becoming as hard to get as Beyonce’s Snapchat handle, so prepare accordingly. Gather your squad in advance to avoid day of disappointment.

There are a few ticket options to select from:

  • Pre-Sale: exclusively for AMEX holders. Pre-sale tickets are available a week prior to the general public. Highly recommended if you are a card member.
  • General Admission: available on a first come, first served basis. A limited number of tickets are available to purchase. This is known as a “release”. Once a release is sold out, the next release becomes available. This continues until all tickets are sold. Also, each release increases slightly in price.
  • Fast Pass: General Admission that includes fast track line privileges for the ferries.
  • Rosé Garden: at $475, this ticket option allows for a more intimate, exclusive experience. It includes lounge seating, premium entry, a gourmet lunch, and bottle of Veuve Rosé .

Make It Fashion

While I’ve come to really enjoy watching the polo match, VCPC is all about style. The best part of the Polo Classic is seeing beautiful people in beautiful clothes paying homage to the culture and traditions of the sport.

Show off your personal style, whether it’s traditional, chic, or just plain over the top. Do you.

Even in all of your fashion glory, dress comfortably. There’s a lot of walking involved – at least a mile from the ferry to the park – and you don’t want to look spent before you even enter the grounds.

Get Creative With Your Pics

There are a ton of Veuve Clicquot branded installations around Liberty State Park for you to interact and snap photos with. While these are beautiful, the lines can be monstrous. I’m talking an hour wait in some cases. You don’t want to spend the entire day waiting in photo lines. On top of which, thousands of people will have the same photo. So, walk around and scope out the scene. I suggest finding an area not centered around an installation to do it for the ‘gram. The entire park is a beautiful backdrop. So grab your bottle of Veuve and get creative.

Hold Your Own

Speaking of grabbing your bottle, the event curators have their own way of regulating alcohol consumption. Upon entry, each person will receive a wristband with peel off tabs. 1 bottle + 2 glasses. You’ll turn these in during your bar purchase.

I’ve seen a few people spill their cookies and it’s not pleasant. It’s easy to get swept up in the atmosphere and forget to eat, so be mindful not to overdo it on an empty stomach.

You’re allowed to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages, which is what I usually do. Bring a blanket and you can enjoy the day picnic style. An extensive selection of food trucks are also available should that be more your speed.

Have Fun

Most importantly – enjoy yourself! The good people over at Veuve Clicquot got it right with this event. Games, Food, Social, Champagne – they’ve covered it all.

Come prepared to make memories with your squad, or by yourself. As with anything, the day is what you make it. If you’re set on having a good time, you most certainly will.

Hey! Thank you so much. I actually had this outfit made. I had a specific idea of what I wanted to wear but couldn’t find it exactly. So I went the custom route, which saved me a lot of time and potential disappointment..hehe
